Coworker Craft Decor Project
In which I share off my goofy project to make cubicle life a bit more fun
I work on a program with 40 or so of the oddest, loudest humans ever collected in one place. (And I say this with love and affection as I fit right in.) They are nerds with varied professional interests, be it math, physics, engineering, military operations, and/or political science. As part of an overall effort to reduce the footprint of our organization, we moved from working in three different buildings to a floor full of dull, tan cubicles. Most of the folks I work with aren’t the cube-decorating type so I decided to make something special for each person I work with, making little signs for them.
My ideas come from all over - maybe it’s something about their personal history, something they say over and over again, something in their fandom, a quote they’d like. No two are the same though I have repeated the same quote a few times by specific request. So far, I’ve made 18 of these little signs with several repeats and a couple I didn’t get pictures of before gifting; one of those said “I don’t know, I just work here” and another “Please don’t make me model the ammunition.” Again, these all make perfect sense if you know the person they’re made for.
