Beyond the Rating: How to End a Love Story

What’s it About?

Helen and Grant grew up together and have managed to avoid one another for a decade. Then one of her books is being turned into a show and...well, he’s one of the writers.

She hates him. Her family hates him. And he hates himself on their behalf as it is his fault Helen’s sister is dead.

As they try to find a way to put aside their feelings and work together, they realize maybe forgiveness is possible.

What’d I Think?

I enjoyed how this story explores the theme of forgiveness within the context of the enemies-to-lovers trope. They don’t detest each other over a minor misunderstanding or his jerky behavior.

Her family rejects him in a dinner time fight that feels real and not a scene in an overly-dramatic TV show. And both Helen and Grant have to work through the past before they can focus on the future which takes more than just a chapter or two.

This one really has heart. An easy 4.5 stars though you could convince me to up it.
