What’s it About?

Sean managed a bed and bath store and Jonathan is the owner of the entire chain. On a tour of his store, Jonathan accidentally pushes Sam into a demo shower. Since Jonathan was probably coming to fire Sam, he decided to pretend that the fall resulted in a concussion and amnesia. Since Sam has no family nearby, Jonathan feels forced to allow him to move into his flat while he recuperates. When Jonathan’s family interferes in his regimented life and instance loves Sam, Jonathan is forced to examine if he really knows what he wants out of life.

What Did I Think?

The book is a fun study in opposite. Sam doesn’t care about the store’s bottom line but about making sure his staff is taken are of and his customers are not taken advantage of, either. Jonathan is all about the numbers and is totally fine having no life outside of work. Jonathan’s family drives him crazy with their loudness and tendency to take over situations entirely whereas Sam sees his coworkers as his family.

I kept wanting to go back to this book to see where it went next. Lying about amnesia is obviously a situation that’s going to explode at some point, but what’s going to be the thing that makes it happen? How long can Sam pretend and how long can Jonathan remain aloof?
